Automated processes with the Control and Safety System (CSS)
The CSS consists of three key subsystems: control and monitoring of production and utilities, emergency shutdown (ESD), and fire and gas detection.
In natural gas export processes, the CSS manages pressure, temperature, and flow measurements, while also overseeing equipment like PIG launchers and receivers, heat exchangers, flow computers, control and safety valves, and the chemical injection of ethanol into the export pipeline of each FPSO.

Learn about the main features of the Altus Control and Safety System.

High availability
Each automated system includes two PLCs running in a high-availability hot standby topology. If the primary CPU becomes unavailable, the standby unit takes control, ensuring continuous operation

Enhanced performance
The system offers control convergence, a user-friendly interface, real-time graphical reports, seamless integration with corporate systems, modern and versatile technology, and high redundancy with hot-swappable modules

Automated process modules
The CSS manages subsea equipment control, oil separation and treatment, gas dehydration and compression, power generation, sulfate removal from water, water injection, oil offloading, and natural gas export from the platforms

Distributed systems
This high-availability system uses thousands of I/O points spread across conventional or pressurized remote panels, interconnected with process module instrumentation through PROFIBUS-DP and HART field networks
