    NX3035: high-performance redundancy for critical process control  

    The CPU NX3035 CPU is one of the most robust and advanced models within Altus’ Nexto System.Built on a 64-bit architecture and equipped with 384 KB dedicated to %I and %Q points, as well as 8 MB of retentive/persistent memory, this unit offers strong support for complex systems. Its integrated floating-point unit ensures high-performance data processing for industrial applications that demand both speed and reliability. 

    Designed for uninterrupted operation, the NX3035 comes with native support for redundancy, essential for continuous processes and critical systems where downtime is not an option.  

    Compact and rugged, this CPU also offers advanced diagnostics and an architecture prepared to ensure maximum availability, even in harsh industrial environments. The clock synchronization via SNTP and the embedded real-time clock increase the precision and reliability of operations. 

    Advanced connectivity and seamless integration 

    One of the key differentiators of the NX3035 is its advanced connectivity. It includes six high-speed Ethernet interfaces, two dedicated SFP ports for redundancy synchronization, and one RS-485 serial interface, ensuring fast, stable, and secure communication even in the most complex setups.  

    Its broad compatibility with industrial protocols reinforces its versatility, enabling smooth integration with various devices, systems, and automation platforms. Supported protocols include OPC DA/UA, PROFINET, EtherCAT, MODBUS TCP, SNMP, and EtherNet/IP,making the NX3035 ideal for real-time, high-performance applications that require advanced connectivity and interoperability. 

    High-performance architecture for demanding applications 

    The Nexto NX seriesincluding the NX3035 CPU, incorporates features that simplify system diagnostics, maintenance, and operations: 

    • – Embedded VPN – Selected Nexto models include a native VPN service that establishes a secure communication tunnel directly with the CPU. This functionality allows remote access to the control network for diagnostics, updates, and real-time monitoring, even from long distances. 

    • – FTP Connectivity – With support for FTP protocol, controllers can transfer data to compatible servers. This enables remote files transfer generated by the CPU, such as logs and datalogger records, facilitating offsite storage and data analysis without local intervention. 

    • – Battery-Free Operation – Nexto controllers are designed to operate without internal batteries, for both memory retention and RTC functionalities. This eliminates the need for periodic battery replacement, lowering maintenance costs and ensuring reliability in remote or hard-to-reach locations. It’s also an environmentally responsible solution. 

    • – Easy Plug System - All Nexto products feature the proprietary Easy Plug system, which allows I/O terminal blocks to be quickly connected and disconnected without tools. The removable terminals and guided alignment ensure fast, precise field operations during installation, replacement, or maintenance. 

    • – One Touch Diag (OTD) – This exclusive diagnostic tool provides a simplified and direct troubleshooting experience. With just one push of the diagnostic button on each module, users can access detailed status information on the CPU's graphic display, no programming software or supervisory system required. It can also be used offline, significantly speeding up commissioning, inspection, and field maintenance. 

    • – Multiple Block Storage – The NX3035 features a segmented memory architecture designed to meet different industrial demands. It supports both volatile and non-volatile memory types, offering flexibility in managing and retaining critical data. Available memory options include: 

    • - Direct I/O variables mapping (%I and %Q). 
    • - Output variables of direct representation (%Q). 
    • - Memory variables of direct representation (%M). 
    • - Standard data memory. 
    • - Redundant data memory. 

    For persistent data retention after shutdown or power loss: 

    • - Retentive memory variables (%Q) and data blocks. 
    • - Persistent memory variables (%Q) and data blocks. 
    • - Program memory and source code. 
    • - Internal file system (supporting .doc, .pdf, and other data files). 
    • - External microSD card slot. 

    This modular and segmented storage structure provides higher data security, operational reliability, and flexibility in developing complex applications, especially where traceability is critical. 

    Native support for hot-standby redundancy 

    The NX3035 fully supports hot-standby redundancy, with two synchronized CPUs communicating over dedicated optical channels (NET A and NET B). In the event of a failure in the primary CPU, the backup unit immediately takes control of the system, ensuring uninterrupted operation without data loss, reboots, or human intervention. This architecture is ideal for systems where downtime is unacceptable, such as:  

    • – Offshore oil platforms:Redundancy ensures uninterrupted operation of safety systems, pumps, valves, and communication links to onshore command centers, reducing operational and environmental risks. 

    • – Power generation and distribution plants: In electric and thermal sectors, control failures can disrupt power supply or damage equipment. Redundancy ensures continuous management of turbines, cooling systems, generators, and protection panels, preventing outages and load losses. 

    • – Chemical, petrochemical, and pulp plants: In processes involving chemical reactions, interruptions can compromise safety and product quality. Redundancy safeguards the execution of critical routines involving temperature, pressure, and flow control. 

    • – Distributed control systems: NX3035, in redundant mode, ensures that the global process control remains active even with failures, preventing system collapse and allowing for corrective actions without downtime in large-scale distributed systems with multiple subsystems. 

    • – Control centers: Redundancy ensures uninterrupted operation of critical control rooms, maintaining communication, alarms, and command transmission to remote units. 

    • – High-availability production lines:In sectors such as automotive, pharmaceuticals, and food processing, unexpected downtime leads to immediate losses. NX3035 redundancy allows continued production even if the main CPU fails, ensuring stable output and efficiency. 

    • – SCADA system integration:CPU redundancy preserves communication integrity with SCADA systems, ensuring that supervisory systems continue to receive data and issue commands, even in the event of failures, maintaining full visibility and control over industrial operations. 

    • – Severe or electrically noisy environments: In areas subject to power fluctuations, electromagnetic interference, or extreme conditions, redundancy ensures operational stability and system resilience, even when individual components fail. 

    Beyond CPU redundancy, the Nexto NX series also enables enables redundancy for fieldbus networks like PROFIBUS DP and supervisory control networks,further increasing system availability and reliability.

    The NX3035 CPU stands out as a high-performance solution designed to deliver consistent performance, scalability, and seamless integration with a wide range of platforms and devices.
