Meet the TB340, Altus` new solution for training and technical qualification

This is a story we have told several times, but we never tire of it, or rather, we are proud to say: education is one of our flags. Since our foundation, in 1982, during a postgraduate course at UFRGS, we have cultivated a deep and intense relationship with the topic.

Throughout our first 38 years of history, we have been involved in different projects to encourage the education and technical development of both students and professionals in the technology field. The delivery of 13 Nexto Xpress PLCs for the practical classes laboratories at Escola Técnica Liberato, which you can follow here, on I&A Blog, was one of the most recent actions we took in this context. However, in addition to making donations of equipment, teaching courses and sponsoring events, Altus also develops specific products for training and technical qualification of professionals.

Your portable automation laboratory

With resources that allow simulations of elements present in the most varied industrial automation systems, the Training Box briefcases from Altus are a complete teaching solution for research and training laboratories in companies and educational institutions. Traditionally manufactured with Duo Series PLCs, the family now gains a new member with high technology that allows users to explore the new concepts of Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT). Discover the TB340, a Training Box model with Nexto Xpress CLP onboard.

The solution has as its central unit a XP340 programmable controller, high-speed PLC with a high level of connectivity. The most advanced model in the Nexto Xpress line, the product has an Ethernet port with support for various protocols, such as MODBUS TCP, EtherNet/IP Scanner, IEC 104, OPC DA, OPC UA and MQTT , a USB port with Wifi adapter for IoT application development, a CAN interface for CANopen communications or protocols owners and a RS-485 serial channel with MODBUS RTU. The controller also has Web Server support, a tool that allows the creation of supervision and application monitoring screens without the need to use a SCADA system.

In addition to the PLC The resource also has a digital voltmeter to indicate the analog output status and a dedicated circuit that allows control and disturbance simulations to be carried out in PID loops.

Simulation capacity even without the case

The Training Box TB340 uses MasterTool IEC XE software, a free resource for programming Nexto Series controllers. With a modern and customizable interface, the tool offers 6 languages (LD, FBD, ST, IL, SFC and CFC) described by the IEC 61131-3 standard and has simulation resources that eliminate the need for the use of the PLC for application development and testing. This functionality allows students and technicians to practice and carry out simulations even when they are not in possession of the case.
