The technology Nexto continues to increase its reach and gain new opportunities to demonstrate its ability to solve problems and add value to users in different countries around the world. One of the last projects in which Altus' main series of programmable controllers was applied took place in Sweden, a territory where our products have excellent acceptance and great competitiveness. In this project, the challenge was to increase the productivity of a plastic injection machine that, until then, used technology from an Italian supplier and had the capacity to manufacture up to 90 bottles per hour.
To enhance the machine's performance, the local integrator recommended by Beijer, our partner in Europe for over 10 years, upgraded the equipment using technology from the Nexto family modular PLC line. The architecture applied included the CPU NX3004 , processing unit with integrated power supply and large data storage capacity, together with 13 digital and analog I/O modules for communicating with the machine's different processes. With high processing speed, the technology developed by Altus expanded the equipment's production capacity by more than 30%, jumping from a production of 90 bottles per hour to 120.
In addition to a large increase in productivity, Nexto technology also provided an important gain in quality in the plastic injected by the machine. The Series' high-resolution analog modules allow for extremely fine-tuned temperature control, which results in more precise operation of the modeling tool during the injection process, increasing the quality of the plastic bottles manufactured.
Furthermore, the technology of Altus products also represented important savings for the customer, since this Nexto architecture was implemented at a cost 60% lower than that budgeted by the Italian manufacturer.
