Altus products receive UKCA marking

Altus products receive UKCA marking

With the Brexit and the consequent departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union, a series of regulatory changes needed to be integrated to guarantee the quality of products sold in the region. One of the actions was the creation of the UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) mark, a mandatory item for the export of electronic equipment and other products to countries that are part of that economic bloc. To adhere to the new guidelines, Nexto Xpress compact PLCs, Nexto Series modular products and the Hadron Hadron Xtorm Series remote terminal units comply with the safety standards of the UKCA mark.

Like the CE standard the UKCA marking guarantees that products sold in the territories of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland meet specific safety, health and environmental requirements. For Altus PLCs and RTUs to receive the mark, the products had to pass the electromagnetic compatibility and electrical safety tests determined by the standard. Guarantees that the inputs used in its production comply with the ROHS and REACH directives also needed to be presented.

Obtaining the UKCA mark confirms Altus` commitment to the British market, reinforcing the brand`s presence in Europe, while confirming its commitment to providing quality products and complete solutions.

UL/cUL and DNV certifications on Nexto PLCs

In addition to CE and UKCA markings, Nexto Series products and IoT-ready Nexto Xpress PLCs also bear other important international certificates.

A requirement for exporting products to the United States and Canada, UL/cUL certification demonstrates compliance of Nexto PLCs with Underwriters Laboratories safety standards. Altus equipment is certified in the NRAQ category, governed by the safety standards UL61010-1, UL61010-1-12 and UL61010-2-201. While the UL61010-1 and UL61010-1-12 standard addresses the general safety requirements for measurement, control and laboratory equipment, the UL61010-2-201 standard addresses the specific safety requirements for control equipment.

The DNV certification, issued by Det Norske Veritas, is a requirement for companies in Asia, Europe and North America to use programmable controllers in marine applications. Nexto Series equipment is certified in the Type Approval category, whose process involves testing the development and production system of electronic products. This certificate ensures the high level of the products, the quality of its production chain, the hardware ruggedness and its high availability in applications for high sea structures.
